Night Terrors is your childhood fears on steroids. If Slender man gives you the chills, then Tim Miller's Shadow man will make you want to never turn out the lights. Not that it matters, once Shadow man has chosen you there is no escape from his posse of minion children eagerly awaiting to feast on flesh.There was an ambience of a dark fairytale and wonder which I thought was a surprising and very welcomed twist. It stands this book out from others. The tale was spun through the medium of journals, police reports and doctor patient notes, which was a great nod toward Slender man and, I have to say, reminded me a touch of Bram Stoker's Dracula.
If you are checking out Tim Miller for the first time, this is the book to read.

I read this in one sitting, simply because I HAD to know what happened next! I still can't decide which ending I preferred, though!
Really different from his other books, but still really fun to read. Only bad thing is the wait for his next books to be released.
This is not Tim Miller's usual gore fest style of writing. The gore is still there, but the story and characters are much more developed than usual. I think this is his best and scariest story so far. It plays upon one of my darkest fears - that some THING is watching me when I am alone in the dark. My skin crawls just thinking about it, and this book had it crawling all night.

I'm new to the writings of Tim Miller. Although I read just about every genera, horror is not among my favorites. However, Night Terrors was EXCEPTIONALLY written! I was sucked in from the start!! There may not be a Boogie Man, but the Shadow Man does exist in Night Terrors! Fan or not of horror, Night Terrors is DEFINITELY worth looking at.
Solid execution on an interesting enough concept. I like the different perspective that the author gives to the problem of supernatural horror. In a genre that to me has been self obsessed with cliches this is a breath of fresh air. Did it scare me? No. However I could not put it down. Also it's rather short, but the story seems to dictate that. Any longer and the tension would have been lost.
The characters and motivations are the best part of the book. It is also well structured and keeps just enough tension each chapter to keep me reading.
As a final note the only trope that this book covers is the standard decent into madness. That particular part was not particularly inventive. It appeared to be what outsiders think inpatient psychiatric treatment is like. But I came for horror, not realism, so that was not a problem.
I found this book and its premise to be very intriguing, so much so that I began reading it the same day it arrived in the mail.
Night Terrors was very different from Tim Miller's other books, and yet still filled me with horrific images that just might carry over into my dreams.
I enjoyed the arrangement of the chapters and the differing ways that the story was pieced together.
Everything that transpired after they visited the group therapy session was intense and fast-paced. I knew then that things were about to get seriously out of control.
I enjoyed having the ability to read both versions of the ending so that I could decide which I liked better.
Most of Miller's books don't deal with the paranormal, but with the real horrors human beings can do to one another. This book was different, it was graphic and the night terrors do awful things, but it features evil from another dimension, a corrupt psychologist, a government that wants to keep its secrets, and great characters. It was also cool that the author provides an alternate ending at the end of the book.
Either way, if you like Saw, Hostel, and Paranormal Activity, you're gonna like Miller.
